IN THE GARDEN

I have been in church where the worship is contemporary. I find it very uplifting and condusive to worship. I enjoy the music worship times so very much. But there is that part of me that yearns to return the days when we sang the great hymns of the church. One of my very favorites, which there are many, is In The Garden. I thought it would be good to share this God breathed hymn with my brothers and sisters in Christ. I pray that you will make a trip as you watch and listen, back to the garden where only you and the Lord visit. God bless.

I love that song. You are right we miss so much by not keeping and continuing with the old hymns. They are classics for a reason!

Ah, this was my father's favorite hymn. The old hymns are beautiful, especially if you read/sing all the verses. The tell beautiful truths.

Thanks for stopping by my place and your encouraging comment.

Blessings!

There is so much controversy over the type of music in worship. I like the contemporary songs that are worshipful. And some are very worshipful. I don't like the hand clapping ones so much. I'm sure when the old hymns were new they were contemporary and some people probably didn't like them. Nothing stays the same. In the Garden is a song I have sang dozens or more times. It's a good song.
Blessings,
Charlotte

Dr. Bobbi,

That was probably one of the greatest compliments I received on my blog from a reader; that my work was high quality! Thanks so much for those encouraging words. Love your TyDy'ish' blog background; so retro! :D

But mostly love your joy for the Lord and congrats on Evan Thomas coming soon. How exciting! I just LOVE babies myself.

Have a blessed day dear one,

~Sarah

My wife and I also miss the old Hymns at church. The total focus on contemptorary music gives the feeling that the claasic hymns of the church are left behind and no longer desired. The church is made up of many age groups with varieties of eras, up-bringings, and social changes that produce old & new tastes, but classics span the generations. Exclusion is a mistake and creates imbalance and longing for the old loved hymns. We have a CD bt Country Singer Alan Jackson of old hymns that is a true blessing. That album went platinum in sales. Tell me that people of God don't want the classic hymns, but the facts say "Give me that old time religion". Thalks for the great post.

Oh my, the memories this song brings. I haven't sung this, in church, in many years. But we used to sing it all the time. I sing it sometimes when I am singing old hymns. Thank you for posting.

I love this hymn also, as a matter of fact, I love the ole time way of preaching, and the songs.
Amazing Grace, and Just as I am helped led people to Christ for many years, and they have not lost their message even today. But I do listen to the new music, and like most of it, and God has blessed a lot of it also.
God bless you

I love this hymn and it holds a special place in my heart...when my sons were young teens, two of them sang in an acapella quartet...this was one of their songs...it always thrilled my heart to hear them sing it....
